2019-20 ACT Bushfire Season ends 31 March 2020

Following a challenging season of unprecedented conditions the ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) will officially end the 2019-20 ACT bushfire season today, 31 March 2020.

Smell of smoke - Griffith

ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) are on scene at Franklin Street, Griffith following reports of a burning smell inside the vacant Capitol Cinema. 

ESA adapts to COVID-19

ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) is prepared to continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and has put measures in place to further protect first responders and the Canberra community.

Apartment Fire - HOWIE COURT, BELCONNEN

ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) and ACT Police are in attendance at a top floor apartment fire in Howie Court, Belconnen. 

Firefighting operations are underway.

Motor Vehicle Crash - Barton

BRISBANE AVENUE - State Circle.

Two southbound lanes are closed on the State Circle due to a motor vehicle crash. Access to State Circle via Brisbane Avenue is closed.

Motor Vehicle Crash - Fyshwick

One westbound lane on Canberra Avenue, under the Monaro Highway Bridge has been closed due to a motor vehicle crash.

Evacuation at the National Press Club - Update

ACT Fire & Rescue has deemed the National Press Club safe for patrons and staff to return.

Firefighters found a fault in the lift caused smoke which prompted an evacuation.

Approximately 100 people have evacuated from the National Press Club in Barton.

ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene investigating.
