Supporting the community

ACT Fire & Rescue support the ACT Community in a variety of ways.

Supporting the community

As a cornerstone of emergency management, we are active in preparing, responding and assisting in the recovery of the ACT community when emergencies happen.  We have the largest volunteer organisation in the ACT with our Community Fire Unit program. This section of ACTF&R has close to 900 active members.

We have an extensive community education focus. This includes fire education in primary schools, open days, career expo’s, fetes, community events as well as the big events such as New Year's Eve celebrations and Canberra Day. We visit the vulnerable in our community and provide home fire safety advice and even install their smoke alarms for free!

So next time you see a fire truck at an event, come and talk to us. Our members are professional full time firefighters and always very generous with their time.
