Wet weather and damaging winds for the ACT

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has now received 11 requests for assistance since yesterday afternoon as a result of the wet weather and gusty winds across the ACT and surrounding areas.

The majority of calls have been due to fallen trees. 3 ACTSES crews are currently active with 9 jobs outstanding.

With these weather conditions expected to continue overnight and into tomorrow, Canberrans are asked to monitor the situation and take precautions.

The ACTSES advises you should:

  • Move your car under cover or away from trees
  • Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony
  • Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences
  • Stay indoors away from windows
