Update 7:15 PM: A severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Canberra Civic, Weston Creek and Woden Valley. This thunderstorm is slow moving. It is forecast to affect South Canberra by 7:45 pm.

Published 2:19 PM: The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for heavy rainfall.
Weather Situation: Severe thunderstorms capable of bringing heavy falls are triggering in a moist airmass.
The ACT State Emergency Service advises the community to:
🚗 Move your car under cover and away from trees;
🔒 Secure or put away loose items;
⚡️Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines;
🏠 Stay indoors away from windows;
🚧 Never drive, walk or ride through floodwater.
