ESA Staff recognised in Australia Day Honours

The ACT Emergency Services Agency congratulates Frank Marando who has been announced as a recipient of the Public Service Medal (PSM) in the 2025 Australia Day Honours. 
 
The PSM recognises employees of the Australian Government and state, territory and local governments who have given outstanding service. 
 
Frank Marando 
Frank has dedicated over 27 years of combined public service to the Commonwealth and ACT Government in the field of Ministerial, Cabinet, Legislative Assembly, Executive Support and Parliamentary services. Frank’s mantra of ‘helping wherever we can, however we can’ has been consistently demonstrated through his passion for promoting collaboration across diverse areas of government, at all levels, to deliver outstanding outcomes for all involved.  
 
Since 2016, Frank leads a small team as a trusted leader in providing essential advice to ESA Executives, particularly in times of crisis or sensitive circumstances. Frank’s accumulative corporate knowledge of ACT Government processes, history of the ESA and associated key internal and external stakeholders, has consistently proved to provide insightful, timely and accurate information to uphold a positive and reassuring reputation of the Agency to the wider ACT community. 
 
Throughout his career with ESA, Frank has delivered outstanding service to the Agency and wider government and has demonstrated consistent excellence in leadership. As an exemplary leader, Frank clearly demonstrates this skillset in the workplace daily by bringing stakeholders into the conversation early to capture any complexities or sensitives to ensure they are comfortable with the proposed solution or information to be offered.  
 
As a Senior Director, Frank continues to inspire the best from his team and all those who interact with him so that the ACT community can rely on their emergency services workforce. Mr Marando is considered a valued mentor among his junior team members and trusted advisor to so many across the ESA.
