Hazard reduction burn - Tharwa

Dependent on suitable weather conditions ACT Rural Fire Service will conduct a hazard reduction burn today, Sunday 16 September 2018. The burn is 6.58ha in size and will be undertaken on private land adjacent to Naas Road opposite Cuppacumbalong Homestead and Outward Bound in Tharwa. A total of 44ha is planned to be reduced in the area to assist the landholder with weed control by reducing biomass, and will provide a strategic fire break for part of the Tharwa Village. Crews will be on site from 9:00am and will remain on scene until the burn is extinguished and deemed safe.
