Around 10pm, firefighters received a call for help from the man who had removed himself from his trapped vehicle.

Firefighters in the Triple Zero (000) Communications Centre talked the man through pinpointing his location using his mobile device. Lights and sirens were used during the search so that the caller was able to tell the firefighters in the Communications Centre when he could see and hear help nearby.

The man and his dog were successfully retrieved from Two Sticks Road. Both were uninjured and did not require medical assistance.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency encourages everyone to download the Emergency+ app to their mobile device. The app uses GPS functionality to help a Triple Zero (000) caller to provide critical location details.
