Fire at historic city building

Firefighters have extinguished a fire at Gorman House in Braddon.

ACT Fire & Rescue was alerted to the incident on Ainslie Avenue just after 4:30 this morning.

Multiple fire crews responded and quickly extinguished the fire preventing any major damage to the historic building.

Firefighters are currently ventilating smoke from the structure and undertaking atmospheric monitoring.

The cause will be investigated.
