Hazard reduction burns at Majura today

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) is conducting two hazard reduction burns today at Majura.

The Gungahlin Brigade will light up a large pile on two adjoining properties on Majura Road.

The burns are expected to take several hours to complete.

The ACTRFS will have two tankers, two mediums units and one commanders present for the burns with a total of 13 firefighters.

Temporary smoke cover may occur in the area. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
