Storm and Flood Assistance
A Crace resident has left food unattended which resulted in large amounts of smoke in a house.
ACT Fire & Rescue was alerted to the incident on Nuleri Street at 1.00pm and responded with two pumpers, breathing apparatus support and a commander vehicle.
Crews arrived to find a pet dog still in the house and a large amount of smoke emanating from the stove.
Firefigters isolated power and gas to the home, removed the food from the stove and rescued the dog. The house is now being ventilated.
No persons were injured and quick work from ACT Fire & Rescue ensured no structural damage was done.
Canberra residents are reminded, once again, "Don't stop looking while you're cooking".
