Faulty electrical equipment may be to blame for a fire sparked in a wall cavity of a Watson home this evening.
ACT Fire & Rescue was called to Higinbotham Street at 9:38pm by a mother and daughter who noticed a strong smell of smoke.
Once the power was switched off, firefighters cut a hole in the wall to trace the source of the fire into the roof.
It took crews half an hour to bring it under control and efforts are now focused on ventilating the property.
An electrical inspector has been called to help investigate the cause of the fire.
At the height of the incident, ACT Fire & Rescue had three pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Hazardous Materials Unit and a commander on scene.
