Storm and Flood Assistance
The ACT Rural Fire Service will tonight, Thursday 2nd May, 2013, assist a private landholder with a small hazard reduction burn at Lions Youth Haven, Kambah Pool Road, Tuggeranong.
Crews are currently on scene and anticipate to complete the small pile burn by 10pm.
Two tankers, one command vehicle and 10 personnel are conducting the pile burn of plant material which is approximately six metres x three metres in size.
The ACT Handy Map grid reference is J14.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
