ACT Rural Fire Service continue to assist in Victoria with fire fighting operations

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) has received another formal request from the Victorian Fire Services Commissioner to assist with fire fighting operations as part of a NSW deployment.

A Taskforce of 10 personnel, made up of volunteer members from the ACTRFS and staff from the ACT Parks and Conservation Service left Canberra Airport this morning at 6.30am to continue the ACT's fire fighting operations at Halls Gap in The Grampians National Park, Victoria, for a six day deployment. This new group will replace the taskforce who were deployed to Victoria on Tuesday 19 February, 2013.

This team is part of a strong co-operative arrangement the ACT has with interstate authorities to assist in fighting fires in other jurisdictions when required.
