Looking after people with special needs

The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) is asking the community to consider neighbours who may need your help during a fire in your Bushfire Survival Plan.

The vulnerable members of our ACT community including the elderly, people with a disability and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

This could be as easy as checking in with them to ask if they're alright or assisting them to evacuate if a fire starts in their local area.

If evacuation is necessary, the ESA will advise the community and provide details on the closest Evacuation Centre for people who have nowhere else to go.

People with special needs should always leave early and take important items they need to sustain them for at least 72 hours with them such as medications.
