Another hazard reduction burn in the ACT planned for tonight.

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will today, Monday 10 September, 2012, weather permitting, conduct a hazard reduction burn at the property Cuppacumbalong, Naas Road, Tharwa, from 5pm till 10pm.

Two medium tankers, one light unit and seven personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx one hectare in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is J17.

The purpose of the burn is to remove a fuel hazard.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
