3:35pm Friday 23 September 2011 - Two hazard reduction burns in the ACT tomorrow

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will conduct two hazard reduction burns tomorrow, Saturday 24 September, 2011 weather permitting, surrounding Uriarra village and Royalla.

The Uriarra burn will commence from 10am till 3pm, near Brindabella Road surrounding the settlement of Uriarra.

Four heavy tankers, two medium units, one light unit and 25 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx 30 hectares.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the Uriarra burn is H12.

Also tomorrow, from 9am till 4pm, the ACTRFS Guises Creek Brigade will assist a private landholder with a hazard reduction burn on the property of "The Schools", Monaro Highway, Royalla.

One tanker, one light unit and 9 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx 10 hectares.

The purpose of both burns is to reduce a fire hazard with the removal of accumulated fuel.
