UPDATE - Fire on Springbank Island

ACT Fire & Rescue, ACT State Emergency Service, ACT Rural Fire Service, ACT Parks and Conservation Service and AFP Water Police are still on scene at the fire on Springbank Island, Acton.

A containment line has been created around the area of the fire. There is no risk of the fire spreading and the fire has been contained.

Crews will shortly depart the scene. Monitoring of the area will continue for the next 24 hours.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) is reminding the community to be mindful that we are now in bushfire season and that weather conditions mean that fires can start and spread quickly.

This is an ADVICE level warning. Firefighters and members from each service are working together to transport crews to the island to extinguish the fire.

No properties are under threat and there is no risk of the fire spreading. People in nearby areas may be impacted by smoke.
