Emergency Warning – Seek Shelter Now (TEST ONLY)

The fire is burning out of control and into residential areas, including:

  • Into Darwinia Terrace.
  • Down from Coleman Ridge into Chapman.
  • Through Narrabundah Hill, impacting properties on Eucumbene Drive.

If you are in the impact are seek shelter to protect yourself from the fire. It is too late to leave. 

Embers will be blown long distances ahead of the main fire front starting spot fires, these may impact your home earlier than the main fire front. 

What you need to do (TEST ONLY) 

  • If you are in the impact area, your life is at risk. It is too late to leave. 
  • Seek shelter in a solid structure such as a house. Do not be caught in the open in the path of the fire.
  • Go inside and protect yourself from the fire front. Actively monitor the situation.
  • A safer location may include a well cleared area nearby.
  • If you planned to visit the area, or live in the area but are away from home, do not return.
  • Ensure you wear natural fire materials that cover your body with gloves, boots and a hat. 

  If you are threatened by fire (TEST ONLY)

  • If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure such as a house to protect yourself from the heat of the fire. 
  • Bring pets indoors and restrain them, close all doors and windows and turn off air conditioners, keep water running if possible. 
  • Shelter in a room on the other side of the building from the approaching fire, and one that has water and a clear exit out of the house. 
  • Keep moving away from the fire if possible and if your building catches fire, go to an area within the building which has already burnt. 
  • Monitor both inside and outside for small fires and burning embers and turn sprinklers on if you have them. 
  • Be careful outdoors after the fire has passed as trees can be unstable and fall.

Fires are establishing in elevated areas, with flames climbing into trees. If you are in the impact area, your life is at risk. Leave now if the path is clear to a safer location. The fire may impact on properties in the next hour.

Eucumbene Drive is closed to all incoming traffic and is only open to residents evacuating properties along the drive; do not attempt to enter Eucumbene Drive, as conditions are extremely dangerous and entering the area may put your life at risk.

What you need to do (TEST ONLY)

  • If you are in the impact area, your life is at risk. Leave now if the path is clear to a safer location.  
  • If safe to do so, leave now as roads may become blocked or access may change, smoke may reduce visibility. 
  • Act now to protect yourself and your family. Conditions may get worse quickly. Leaving at the last minute is deadly.  
  • A safer location may include a well cleared area nearby.

Watch and Act – Prepare to Leave (TEST ONLY) 

Current Situation (TEST ONLY) 

Multiple fires are continuing to run east quickly across dry creek lines and beginning to impact the equestrian centres. The Bullen Range fire continues to burn, with the fire front moving down towards the creek line and expanding across the ridge. 

Residents in Duffy, Rivett and Chapman should now prepare to leave and be ready to enact their bushfire survival plan. 

Firefighters from the ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene. The fire is currently burning out of control. 

Power has been lost across parts of Duffy, Rivett and Chapman due to bushfire impacts.  Mobile device charging, internet access, electric garage doors, medical equipment and water pumping systems may be affected. Reassess your plans and prepare for extended outages. 

What you need to do: (TEST ONLY) 

  • Fire may impact on your property. Make your final preparations now.  
  • Fill buckets, sinks and bath tubs with water ready to put out spot fires.  
  • Block downpipes and fill your gutters with water to help stop burning embers. Do not get on the roof.  
  • Remove items which can burn from around your home, such as furniture and door mats.  
  • If you have firefighting equipment, get it ready now.   
  • Put on protective clothing made of natural fibres that covers all of your skin. Wear sturdy shoes. Have plenty of drinking water available.  
  • If you are not prepared, your safest option is to leave early.  
  • Prepare for what you will need to wear (natural fibre clothing, shoes) and what you need to take with you (medicines, pets, portable devices, important papers, spare clothes) as you may be away for longer then you expect.

Advice – Stay Informed

Current Situation (TEST ONLY)

On 19 September 2026 at approximately 12:00 PM a bushfire ignited in the area near Paddy's River Road.

On Sunday, 20 September 2026 at approximately 9: 00 AM, the fire has become more active as winds have increased. The fire is burning in an easterly direction toward Canberra, however, does not pose any threat to properties at this time.

Firefighters from the ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene, the fire is currently burning out of control.

What you need to do (TEST ONLY)

  • Stay alert and monitor your surroundings. 
  • Watch out for emergency services personnel and follow their directions. 
  • This means looking out for burning embers, changes in wind direction and smoke.
  • Watch for signs of fire in your area.
  • Know what you will do if the fire impacts on where you are. 
  • Identify a safer location in case the situation changes, this may include a well cleared area or a solid structure such as a home. 
  • If you are not prepared to the highest level, leaving early is the safest option. 
  • Prepare for what you will need to wear (natural fibre clothing, shoes) and what you need to take with you (medicines, pets, portable devices, important papers, spare clothes) as you may be away for longer than you expect.
