Fallen tree incident - Manuka

At approximately 12:45pm this afternoon crews from ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS) and ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) responded to an incident in Palmerston Lane, Manuka involving a tree that had fallen on two couriers as they were making delivery rounds.

The two people were assessed by ACTAS on scene for minor injuries. No persons were transported to hospital.

ACTF&R cordoned off the area for public safety and Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) will remove the fallen tree and repair a damaged park bench and streetlight.

ACTF&R urges the public to avoid parking or standing under trees as they may have become weakened from the rain.

Prolonged wet weather following drought can cause trees to absorb large amounts of water quickly becoming top heavy.
