ACTSES place 3rd in the National Disaster Rescue Challenge

What an achievement, what a team!
Over the weekend a team of members from across ACTSES competed at the 2022 National Disaster Rescue Challenge in WA and placed 3rd overall.
The team was also recognised as best representing the spirit of learning and camaraderie throughout the challenge, being voted by the judges, and competing teams to receive the Hori Howard Spirit of the Challenge award.
The bi-annual event sees SES teams from across Australia demonstrate their storm, flood, search and rescue abilities with a focus on casualty care and extraction, low angle rope rescue, search operations, and structural stabilisation including the use of hydraulics and shoring.
This awesome challenge hasn’t been conducted since 2017, due to the 19/20 bushfire and COVID.
We are so proud of their amazing efforts that showcase the dedication, talent, and resilience our ACTSES volunteers possess.
WA State Emergency Service and the broader Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA put on a great competition supported by an immense team of volunteers. Well done to all the other competitors, and a huge congratulations to Queensland SES who took out first place!
