Lightening has struck and ruptured a gas mainline at 2 Barkly Crescent Forrest.
ACT Fire & Rescue have responded and are using high pressure water jets to disperse the gas.
Residents are asked to avoid the area with Barkly Crescent closed in both directions.
Gas contractors and ACT Fire & Rescue are working to isolate the affected gas line.
