Update four - ACTSES responds to calls for help

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has received 160 requests for assistance since 4pm yesterday due to the wet and windy weather across Canberra.

ACTSES crews supported by ACT Fire & Rescue, the ACT Rural Fire Service and City Services have continued to work through the night with only 22 jobs outstanding.

The majority of have jobs been for trees on roads, with some trees on power lines and property.

The ACTSES urges Canberrans to stay clear of fallen power lines and trees and be aware that trees and branches could fall in windy conditions. Residents should stay indoors, clear of windows.
