Two hazard reduction burns in the ACT today

The Territory and Municipal Services Directorate will today undertake two hazard reduction burns.

One will occur on Mt Wanniassa, east of Erindale Drive and south of Long Gully Road.

The burn will cover approximately 32 hectares.

The second, 1.7 hectares in size, will be adjacent to the Hall Cemetery at Hall.

Temporary smoke cover may occur in both areas. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
