Woman suffers burns from kitchen fire

A woman has been transported to hospital with minor burns following a kitchen fire in Richardson.

The woman suffered burns to her arm when food caught alight on the stove top at a Longman Street house.

A man, a child and baby also suffered smoke inhalation. All four patients were treated at the scene by intensive care paremedics before being transported to the Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident just after 4:30am.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the stove and rangehood with no spread to the roofspace. There was minor smoke damage to the rest of the kitchen.

ACT Fire & Rescue crews are conducting atmospheric monitoring and will shortly leave the scene.
