Update two - ACTSES receives calls for help

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has received 47 calls for help following storm activity in Canberra today.

Of the 47 calls for help only two are yet to be completed.

Five ACTSES units along with ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Rural Fire Service crews, including the Parks Brigade responded to incidents.

The majority of requests for assistance have been for trees on roads. The ACTSES is urging people to park their car undercover or away from trees and consider taking pets inside.

Windy conditions are expected to continue through until this evening. Residents should also ensure they tie down or put away any loose items including outdoor furniture and children's toys to avoid strong winds turning them into dangerous projectiles.

No major damage or injuries have been reported.

For emergency storm assistance ring the ACTSES on 132 500.
