Two controlled burns in the ACT today

The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will today, Wednesday 10 April, 2013, weather permitting, conduct two controlled burns in Kambah and at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

The Australian National Botanic Gardens burn, south of Black Mountain Drive, is approximately 20 hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is K11.

The Kambah burn on McTaggart Crescent is less than one hectare.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the Kambah burn is J13.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
