Controlled burns continue tomorrow in Namadgi National Park

The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will tomorrow, Thursday 11 April, 2013, weather permitting, conduct a controlled burn in Namadgi National Park along Stockyard Spur.

The burn will be approximately 50 hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is F17.

The Smoker's Trail burn is also continuing in Namadgi National Park and as a result, Smoker's Trail will be closed over the weekend.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
