The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will tomorrow, Tuesday 4 September, 2012, conduct two controlled burns, weather permitting at Mullingarri Grasslands, adjacent to Marie Pitt Street in Franklin and at Cooleman Ridge Nature Reserve, off Kathner Street in Chapman.
The ACT Handy Map grid references for the burns are L10 for the Franklin burn and J13 for the Chapman burn.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
