Two controlled burns today at Red Hill

The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will today, Thursday 7 March, 2013, weather permitting, conduct two controlled burns within the Red Hill Nature Reserve adjacent to Red Hill Drive and Strickland Crescent, Red Hill.

The burns are approximately 14.5 hectares and 12 hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for both burns is K12.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
