Controlled burns today at Dunlop and tomorrow at O'Connor

The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will today, Monday 4 February, 2013 and tomorrow, Tuesday 5 February 2013, weather permitting, conduct controlled burns within the Dunlop Grasslands Nature Reserve and in bushland adjacent to Belconnen Way, Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve, O'Connor.

Each burn is approximately 13 hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid references for the Dunlop burn today is J9 and the O'Connor burn tomorrow is K11.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
