Two hazard reduction burns in the ACT tonight

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) Gungahlin Brigade will assist a private landowner with a hazard reduction burn tonight, Wednesday 19 October, 2011 weather permitting, at the property Elmgrove near the Gungahlin Eucalypt Plantation and to the north of Horse Park Drive, Gungahlin.

The burn will commence from 7pm till 10pm.

Two heavy tankers, one medium unit, one light unit and 16 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx one hectare.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is K9.

Also tonight from 7pm, a private landholder will conduct a separate hazard reduction burn of a small pile of tree prunings on Beltana Road, Pialligo.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the Pialligo burn is M12.

The purpose of both burns is to reduce a fire hazard with the removal of accumulated fuel.
