Visible smoke in the ACT

The ACT Emergency Services Agency would like to reassure the community that the visible smoke across Canberra is from bushfires burning in NSW.

Canberrans are reminded to please call Triple Zero (000) if you see an unattended fire (notably a visible flame or distinct column of smoke), not just because you see or smell smoke. Clear details of the location of the fire will also help us attend to it quickly.

ACT Rural Fire Service firefighters are patrolling the Beard Fire this evening. Information on this fire can be found at esa.act.gov.au

For information on fires in NSW download and monitor the NSW Fires Near Me app.

Visit ACT Health (health.act.gov.au) for information on ways you can reduce the impact of smoke.
