From bushfire to babies

A Canberra mother has given birth in an ACT ambulance. Baby number three for the family arrived much faster than anticipated.

At approximately 2 pm today, paramedics from Tuggeranong were called to assist a mother in labour after she started to feel contractions only one minute apart.

She promptly called an ambulance, hoping to make it to hospital about 20 minutes away, in time for the birth.

But her baby had other ideas and with the assistance of ACT paramedics, was safely delivered in the ambulance on the roadside of Mugga Way.

Mum and bub are in good health and are now in the safe hands of hospital staff.

Congratulations to the family - we wish you all the happiness in the world.
