ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a townhouse fire in Belconnen.
Crews were alerted to the incident on Condell Street at 3:39pm and responded with three pumpers, breathing apparatus support, a hazmat team and a commander.
Quick work from firefighters ensured that all damage was contained to the building of origin, but the townhouse was almost completely destroyed.
The two occupants, a male and female both in their 40s, self-evacuated and were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.
Hazmat crews are now conducting atmosphere testing inside the townhouses on each side of the damaged building to ensure they are safe for occupancy.
Initial estimates put the damage bill at approximately $300,000.
