Storm activity in ACT’s south

Crews are investigating a sighting of smoke in the Brindabellas after storm activity in ACT’s south.

Following several lightning strikes, firefighters manning two of Canberra’s fire towers, Mt Tennant and Mt Coree, reported possible smoke near the border in New South Wales.

A helicopter flight over the area did not detect any fire.

ACT Rural Fire Service trucks are on standby at Mount Franklin Road as a precaution.

The ACT State Emergency Service also has units on standby following a weather warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology tonight.
