Hazard reduction burns in the ACT tonight and tomorrow

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will conduct a hazard reduction burn tonight 13th March, 2015, weather permitting, from 5.00pm, in Nicholls adjacent to Stedman Place and Viner Place, Nicholls.

16 personnel will conduct the burn with one heavy tanker, four medium tankers, one light unit and a command vehicle. The burn will be approximately 1.4 hectares in size.

The purpose of the burn is reduce a fuel hazard.

Tomorrow, Saturday 14 March, 2015, the ACTRFS will conduct two hazard reduction burns, weather permitting, from 0930am.

The first burn is adjacent to Cecins Place, Temperley Street and Sue Geh Court Nichols.

25 personnel will conduct the burn with three heavy tankers, four medium tankers and a command vehicle. The burn will be approximately three hectares in size.

The purpose of the burn is reduce a fuel hazard and a joint training exercise with NSW Rural Fire Service

The other burn tomorrow is enclosed by O'Connor Ct, Calwell.

20 personnel will conduct the burn with one heavy tanker, three medium tankers, one Compressed Air Foam System tanker and two command vehicles. The burn will be approximately 6.2 hectares in size.

The purpose of the burn is reduce a fuel hazard and a joint training exercise.
