A man has been transported to Calvary Hospital after being bitten by a snake.

The 29-year-old was walking in bushland near the ACT Netball Centre in Lyneham when he was bitten on the arm.

He walked about 800m to the centre where he received first aid, and the ACT Ambulance Service was called close to 2:30pm.
