The ACT Rural Fire Service will today, Sunday 8 September, 2013, weather permitting, conduct a hazard reduction burn at Molonglo River, in grazing paddocks adjacent to the railway line, near Molonglo Gorge in Kowen.
Seven heavy tankers, three command vehicles and 25 personnel will conduct the burn of up to 14 hectares in size, which will commence at 10am.
The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is M13.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
