ACT Rural Fire Service deployed to assist in The Grampians National Park

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) has received a formal request from the Victorian Fire Services Commissioner to assist with fire fighting operations as part of a NSW deployment.

A vehicle based taskforce of 10 personnel, made up of volunteer members from the ACTRFS and staff from the ACT Parks and Conservation Service left Canberra at 5.30am today for The Grampians National Park, Victoria, for a six day deployment.

This team is part of a strong co-operative arrangement the ACT has with interstate authorities to assist in fighting fires in other jurisdictions when required.
