ESA continues to support QLD flood recovery

The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) continues to support the Queensland community as it recovers from widespread flooding.

While the flood waters are down in most of the state, the recovery to this emergency is now in full swing.

Another two members of the highly respected ESA MAPS group left today for a five day deployment to the Red Cross state emergency operations centre in Brisbane.

The ESA will send a further two mapping specialists next week which will take the total number of ESA MAPS volunteers sent to QLD to 13.

The work MAPS perform at these major disaster operations interstate finds learning's for us to apply locally in the ACT and with each new interstate deployment be it floods in QLD or fires in surrounding NSW, it builds the teams experience with how to handle complex protracted emergencies should they happen at home in the ACT.
