Update on residential structure fire in Melba

The fire that started in a two story residence in Bainton Crescent, Melba, has now been extinguished. ACT Fire & Rescue believe the blaze started in a bedroom and was contained to the area of the home.

The family pet dog has been assessed by ACT Ambulance Service and is doing well. It is currently being cared for by neighbors.

The home was unoccupied at the time crews arrived on scene.

Investigations will soon begin into the cause of the fire.
