ACT Ambulance Service crew smash door overnight to save a life

A man is lucky to be alive after calling an ambulance to his Braddon property last night.

The 33 year old rang emergency triple zero (000) just after 9 o'clock when he started experiencing an asthma attack.

When the ACT Ambulance Service crew arrived at Dooring Street property they had trouble gaining access to the apartment complex because of security measures in place at the building.

The intensive care paramedics had to get the attention of other occupants to let them inside.

When they arrived at the man's apartment, the patient collapsed and lost consciousness before he could open the door so the crew were forced to break it down to start treating him.

They managed to bring the man back then rushed him to Calvary Hospital in a critical condition where he is now recovering.
