The ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS) is responsible for providing emergency and non-emergency ambulance services to the ACT community.

Who we are

In providing emergency ambulance services, our emergency ambulances are staffed with paramedics and intensive care paramedics. Non-emergency ambulance services are provided by Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) officers. Our NEPT crews undertake routine ambulance transport of patients to, from and between hospitals and other medical facilities.

ACTAS also provides intensive care paramedics to the SouthCare Toll rescue helicopter. ACTAS is also responsible for day to day management of the local helicopter service SouthCare is a joint initiative of the governments of New South Wales and the ACT, and provides aeromedical rescue and retrieval services to the ACT and south-eastern New South Wales.
