House fire in O'Connor

A house in O'Connor has been destroyed by fire this morning.

ACT Fire & Rescue was called to the home on Hakea Crescent at 4.40am.

The roof collapsed as the first crew arrived, with the house fully alight. Firefighters have now extinguished the fire. The bronto aerial unit is being used to dampen down the area to ensure there are no hot spots.

The neighbour, who called Emergency Triple Zero (000) reported no one was home at the time.

Three fire pumpers, breathing apparatus support, bronto aerial unit and a commander vehicle are all on scene.

The cause is unknown at this time and investigations will begin soon.
