Hazard reduction burns continue today in the Namadgi National Park

The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate will today, Friday 27 March, 2015, weather permitting, continue with a 260 hectare hazard reduction burn at Lone Pine to the west of Boboyan Road on the Luton fire trail in Namadgi National Park. The burn will reduce fire fuel loads in the area.

A 380 hectare hazard reduction burn will also continue along the Hardy Range to the east of the Cotter River, Namadgi National Park.

For more information on the burns, visit http://www.cmd.act.gov.au/open_government/inform/act_government_media_releases/tamsd.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
