Controlled burns continue in Namadgi National Park this week

The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will today, Thursday 14 March, 2013, weather permitting, continue with a hazard reduction burn in Namadgi National Park at Pago Break.

The burn is approximately 300 hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is F14.

Another controlled burn in Namadgi National Park with commence today, Thursday 14 March, 2013 along Boboyan Road and will continue through to Monday 18 March, 2013.

The burn is approximately 3,200 hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is I21.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
