Hazard reduction burn tonight at Tharwa

The ACT Rural Fire Service Tidbinbilla Brigade will tonight, Tuesday 15 January, 2013, weather permitting, assist a private landholder with a hazard reduction burn at the property "Miowera", Tidbinbilla Road, Tharwa.

The burn will commence from 7pm to 11pm.

One heavy tanker, one medium tanker, one command vehicle and eight personnel will conduct the burn of approximately one to two hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is I15.

The purpose of the burn is to remove a fuel hazard.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
