Two controlled burns in the ACT tomorrow

The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will tomorrow, Wednesday 12 December 2012, conduct two controlled burns, weather permitting, in parkland adjacent to Fitchett Street, Garran and adjacent to Croke Place, Evatt.

The Garran burn is approximately two hectares in size with the Evatt burn 0.3 hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the Garran burn is K13 and J10 for the Evatt burn.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
