Controlled burn tomorrow at Chapman

The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will tomorrow, Saturday 1 September, 2012, conduct a controlled burn, weather permitting in Cooleman Ridge Nature Reserve (off Kathner Street and Doyle Terrace in Chapman).

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is J13.

In the event that the area cannot be burnt due to fuel moisture, resources will be relocated to Kowen Forest to undertake a controlled burn of timber piles.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is N12.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
