Small fire extinguished on stove in Turner apartment

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a small fire on the stove at the top floor of an apartment complex at the corner of Northbourne Ave and Barry Drive, Turner.

Cause of small fire on the seventh floor apartment accidental. Minimal damage.

Approx 10 residents on the seventh floor only have been evacuated as a precaution.

Crews alerted following an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call at 3pm.

ACT Fire & Rescue will soon complete ventilation of area.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics also on scene as a precaution and report no injuries.

Update – ACT Fire & Rescue responds to house fire in Gordon

Firefighters have extinguished the fire.

A search of the property has not found anyone inside.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage but will be investigated by ACT Fire and Rescue and ACT Policing forensic officers.

Multiple crews were dispatched to the Sherwood Circuit property after receiving a single emergency triple zero call from a neighbour at 4:30am.

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has received a total of 217 calls for help from the public as a result of the storm activity overnight and today.

There are only six jobs remaining which are expected to be completed tonight.

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has received a total of 204 calls for help from the public as a result of the storm activity overnight and today.

Eight ACTSES volunteer teams and a number of ACT Fire & Rescue crews are continuing to respond with 26 jobs outstanding.

No significant damage reported.
